The Gallery is the second full-length studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity, released on November 27, 1995. It was the first full-length release to feature Mikael Stanne on vocals, as he was previously the rhythm guitarist. In 2004, Century Media Records re-released The Gallery with new layouts and five cover songs as bonus tracks. On the band's live album, Where Death Is Most Alive, vocalist Mikael Stanne has stated that the song "Edenspring" is about drinking.

But one must not overlook Dark Tranquillity's contributions to the genre, specifically The Gallery, which may not be rightfully recognized as the bona fide classic that it is. Back in 1995, Dark Tranquillity played a rather unknown sub-genre of metal, one known as Melodic Death Metal, taking the harsh vocals of typical death metal and wrapping them around harmonized guitar leads and very melodic solos, creating an experience quite unlike anything anybody has heard before. At this time in their careers, Dark Tranquillity also did not feature a keyboardist, making the music much more raw sounding, and taking away that sometimes cheesy electronic effect and replacing it with simple, pure, and totally awesome riffing.
