William Emmanuel Bevan, known by his recording alias Burial, is a British electronic musician from South London. Initially remaining anonymous, Burial became the first artist signed to Kode9's electronic label Hyperdub in 2005. He released his self-titled debut album, which drew inspiration from UK rave music and pirate radio culture, to acclaim in 2006; it was named the album of the year by The Wire. Burial's second album, Untrue, was released to further critical acclaim in 2007.

Great single right here! I love the slightly techier, clinical sound of Rodent compared to other Burial tunes - it almost feels like his take on the "lo-fi house" thing. The Kode9 remix is pretty full-on and not too accessible, but after a few listens it definitely takes you on a bit of a journey. Would recommend for fans of Kode9's Nothing album.
how low the mighty have fallenhow boring the once-innovative have becomesax sample at 2:28 made me lol at least
AddictPunk Diplo? What are you talking about? This is definitely one of Burial's less interesting tracks, especially when compared to EP's like Street Halo or Kindred. I only picked it up because I saw it lying around in the record store and I want to own all of Burial's EP's eventually.
wtf? this shit bops. if you actually think this is "boring" maybe diplo is more up your alley lmfao begone thot
Burial is absolutely smashing it. Pure vibes on this one. rate that kode9 remix too, he's pretty inspired by footwork in recent years, i love it. copped the wax no doubt
Not a 10" fan at all. I've decided to skip these recent 10" releases since the digital has been mastered well...sounds great! However my vinyl collection will be missing these new Burial singles. :( If they were released as a 12", I would buy especially Rodent since it's less than 5min and would be optimal playback along the outer edge of a 12" vs 10". Subtemple/Beachfires running 7-10min each side of a 10"? Eek! Young Death on 12" sounds great but kinda short. Also given these recent Burial releases have taken a different direction (feel less immersive) and shorter compared to previous EPs (Rival Dealer, Truant, Kindred...), I find the digital very satisfying to relax and enjoy without having to break my concentration to flip sides. Throw the tracks on my old iPod and make a playlist...very enjoyable!Rodent Bandcamp download is 24bit @2£. Subtemple BC download is 16bit @2£. (Sweetz is also found on Zomby Ultra 2x12"). So spend 2£ for lossless digital or at least 7£+shipping via BC/UK distributor (US Amazon @ $13-15) for a 10"? Hmmm...
I buy both when it comes to Burial (and very few others), The digital is so cheap it's a no-brainer. Check out the Monic - Deep Summer remix if you haven't for that long-form Burial style.
pretty disappointed in this release. Just put True Love VIP on a 12" already!!
Or a finished version of Gaslight, while we're making wishes.
and feral witchchild on the flip. word words words wor
The vinyl is going to be a 10" again. Why? Just do a 12" 45, I think everybody would prefer that, surely?Doesn't matter anyway, track is pretty decent, much better than his last two releases, but no where near enough on its own for me to buy it.
elegant stranger
noahnoa are you sure?, i'd always been on the understanding that 10" were more expensive to manufacture. Dont hold me to it but I think they have to have the outer inch cut away + they are manually sleeved, just logic says that the machines are set up for the norm ie 12". Saying that i'd rather a 12" over a 10.
Ya it's just a penny pinching move on Hyperdubs part. (1$ cheaper to produce x 10,000 copies) = 10k extra. The difference in size isn't going to put off many Burial vinyl buyers. Considering the rest of their roster can't be selling very well I don't blame them I guess.
Yeah I appreciate that it's cheaper, but this is vinyl we're talking about, would it being a few bucks more really bother people? I don't think vinyl is for the money conscious. Maybe it ends up being harder to justify because it's only one track and a remix. I dunno. I personally would rather pay more and it be 12", but maybe I'm just a weirdo. And yeah it isn't necessary to do it in 12 inch but it would fit in with all of his other releases a lot better (it's just annoying from a collector perspective) and would sound better than a 10" owing to the lower distortion.
The tracks are pretty short. 12" would be a waste of plastic. 12" is definitely nicer for DJing but I feel most Burial fans are collectors rather than DJs
10" are just cheaper to produce, although I do agree.
Rodent is great although short. I don't get the Kode9 Remix at all.
Those are my favorites too, but I would put the Massive Attack remixes and the new Deep Summer mix up there as well. He definitely hasn't lost it, just dipping his toes in all kinds of styles, some better than others.
just one girl
The Kode9 remix met my expectations given Kode9's style. I'm glad it sounds different. I would prefer a proper b-side though. Happy to hear new Burial music. Not a big fan of the shorter releases and on 10" for vinyl. Wishing for an run of EPs like Kindred, Truant, Rival Dealer. Those are my favorites.
Up for preorder now on places like Redeye Records and Boomkat. Redeye is the cheapest by far.
