San Diego State University Jazz Ensemble - Evolution album flac

The Jazz Ensemble consists almost entirely of USD students (with some special guests) playing for both the USD campus and occasionally for the San Diego community. The Jazz Ensemble rehearses every Wednesday night for two and a half hours and gives at least one on-campus concert at the end of each semester.

As faculty at San Diego State University they teach and organize the chamber music program, engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments and visit local schools for concerts and clinics on behalf of the School of Music and Dance. Their latest endeavor is Haydn Voyages: Music at the Maritime, a quarterly concert series on a historic ferry boat exploring the string quartet repertoire through Haydn’s quartet cycle. The ensemble has captured prizes at two international brass competitions and has toured internationally in Japan, Mexico, and across the United States. Their residency programs feature non-Western music from Africa, China, the middle east, and South America. The ensemble has performed for the Music Educators National Conference, the first Chamber Music Educator/Ensemble Seminar at Oberlin, California Music Educators state and region conventions.

Founded in 1897 as San Diego Normal School, it is the third-oldest university in the 23-member California State University (CSU) system. SDSU has a Fall 2018 student body of 34,828 and an alumni base of more than 280,000.
