Mozart: Symphonies No.
Carlo Maria Giulini - although not as famous as some "star" conductors - was one of the greatest conductors of the era of recordings. The combination of Mozart and Giulini presented here is outstanding. Yes, Giulini's tempos are noticeably slower than one usually hears for these symphonies, but they are not stodgy or boring - rather they bring out the subtle nuances as well as the grandeur of these magnificent works. If you must have traditional performances of these symphonies, you should look elsewhere. The Symphonies 40 and 41 are among the greatest masterpieces of classical music. Published on May 1, 2010.
