Tesla Girls" is a song by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark released as the third single from their 1984 album, Junk Culture. It charted at No. 21 in the UK and Ireland, and No. 33 in the Netherlands. Although only moderately successful on the charts, it became one of the group's biggest club hits. The song was featured in the 1985 film Weird Science.
OMD released their debut single, "Electricity", in 1979, and gained popularity throughout Europe with the 1980 anti-war song "Enola Gay". The band achieved broader recognition via their album Architecture & Morality (1981) and its three singles, all of which were international hits. Although retrospectively reappraised, the experimental Dazzle Ships (1983) eroded European support

The single performed poorer than expected mainly due to a lack of media coverage. Controversy surrounded the song's video, which some in the media had slammed as 'sexist'. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
As this set moves along, so does the craftiness of their work, which is evident on tighter sounding songs like "Tesla Girls" and "Locomotion," where the intricacy of their formula begins to take a more resounding shape.
