A few things have changed since that album was released, most notably the inclusion of three younger members of the dynasty in the musical line-up. Having not included it on their earlier album, it was almost inevitable that Christmas time's a-coming (a bluegrass classic that has also been recorded by Shelby Lynne, Johnny Cash and others) would be included, and it is the opening track on both the CD and the DVD. It is also great to find Light of the stable (originally recorded by Emmylou Harris, with Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Neil Young as backing singers) on both the CD and DVD.

If one also expects the album to be something of a family affair, they would be right again. Ricky Skaggs states that the project started in the family living room and, from there, grew to include a number of holiday concerts and finally a recording. Skaggs is joined by Sharon White, Molly Skaggs, Luke Skaggs, Buck White, and the members of his band, Kentucky Thunder. The set list hits all the important seasonal high, from carefree fun ("Let It Snow") to traditional ("Little Drummer Boy") to contemporary sentiment ("Christmas Time Is Here")

Richard Lee "Ricky" Skaggs (born July 18, 1954) is a country and bluegrass singer, musician, producer, and composer. He primarily plays mandolin; however, he also plays fiddle, guitar, mandocaster and banjo.
