Rebel Music is a compilation album by Bob Marley & The Wailers released by Island Records in 1986. It consists of tracks drawn from such albums as Natty Dread, Rastaman Vibration, and Survival, as well as an exclusive remix of "Rebel Music (3 O'Clock Roadblock)" and the first album appearance of 1977 B Side "Roots"
In assembling Bob Marley & the Wailers' British chart singles for the 1984 compilation Legend, Island Records created what turned out to be a perennial seller, but also an album that misrepresented the range of Marley's work, downplaying its political aspect in favor of danceability and romantic sentiments. Of course, what made Marley such a powerful figure internationally was his message about the uprising of the oppressed, but you wouldn't know that from Legend. Two years later, Island sought to redress the balance with its second major Marley compilation, Rebel Music
After the Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solo career upon his relocation to England that culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977, which established his worldwide reputation and produced his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million records. Exodus stayed on the British album charts. for fifty-six consecutive weeks. It included four UK hit singles: "Exodus", "Waiting in Vain", "Jamming", and "One Love". In 1978 he released the album Kaya, which included the hit singles. Bob Marley" is a song written and recorded by Canadian country music artist Dean Brody. It was released in May 2012 as the second single from his album Dirt. The song reached No. 69 on the Canadian Hot 100 in July 2012.
