Ocean Machine: Biomech is the second studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, originally released as Biomech under the name Ocean Machine. The album was released in July 1997 on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records. Material for Ocean Machine: Biomech had been around since the time Devin Townsend was touring with Steve Vai in support of Sex & Religion, with some tracks, such as "Funeral", "Regulator" and "The Death of Music", stretching back to Townsend's days with Noisescapes

Infinity is the third solo album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, and the first released under his real name. The album was released in October 1998 on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records. After the completion of Strapping Young Lad's extreme metal album City and his solo progressive rock release Ocean Machine: Biomech, Townsend began to approach a mental breakdown.

Ocean Machine: Biomech July 1997. Ocean Machine: Biomech July 1997. This album I could NOT get signed. I did so, and began the arduous process of recording this album. Fraught with problems from day one, Ocean Machine was a labor of love that was born more out of adversity than almost anything else. I had signed a non-exclusive deal with Century Media for Strapping Young Lad, (as even they at the time didn’t understand the direction that this music.

Only for completionists (3%). Ocean Machine is an album full of heavy metal tunes with full symphonic keyboard backup and of course Devinīs diverse singing on top. Anyone who has heard Devinīs work knows what I mean when I say full symphonic keyboard backup. Devin ( yes he also produces his own ( and other bandīs) albums) has made it his trademark to slap you in the face with a symphonic wall of sound which also includes the extensive use of samples.

This concert was filmed, and on 6th July 2018 it will see the light of day as ‘Ocean Machine – Live at the Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv’.

Devin Townsend is one of the most creative, prolific, and fun musicians alive. This concert video may not be as crazy and off-the-wall as Retinal Circus, but it still does a good job showcasing Devy's talents. This set actually contains 2 full shows- "By Request" is a compilation of Devy's previous work, and "Ocean Machine" is the titular album in full. The digipack set has each concert on its own music CD as well. For fans, this is just the best. Enter Squid, the original bassist from Ocean Machine who takes over duties alongside the remaining personnel from DTP. I love this album. It's equal parts catchy, poppy, experimental, thoughtful, and extreme. It all climaxes with "The Death of Music", whose original recording clocks in at 12:15. The song is performed in its entirety, flawlessly.

strumentalist extraordinaire Devin Townsends massive, earth-shattering trademark record finds the man behind the furious Strapping Young Lad, among other creations, at his most fresh, inventive and innovative in his whole career. The album that spawned the most creative and interesting project hed ever come to be involved in, Ocean Machine is an incredible display of compositional mastery and an excellent ear for ambience. First off, this album is very, very aptly titled for a number of reasons. Comparisons to the ocean are inevitable. What comes out of the speakers when.
