Purple Haze" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and released as the second record single by the Jimi Hendrix Experience on March 17, 1967. As a record chart hit in several countries and the opening number on the Experience's debut American album, it was many people's first exposure to Hendrix's psychedelic rock sound. The song features his inventive guitar playing, which uses the signature Hendrix chord and a mix of blues and Eastern modalities, shaped by novel sound processing techniques

His version of his slow blues "Red House" has been singled out as the session highlight, which uses an uptempo arrangement similar to that of Cream's rendition of "Crossroads". He and the second guitarist trade guitar parts, with backing by bass and drums (Morrison and harmonica are not audible on the track). Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky: The Life of Jimi Hendrix.

What I really liked was the immersive nature of the times, environment, and settings that Jimi Hendrix lived in, as painted by the author. When reading this book, I kept flashing back to my late high school period when Hendrix was at his pinnacle. A good friend had worn out three copies of Electric Ladyland from playing them so frequently . I mean REALLY listen.
