This four-CD set offers a little something - actually, a lot of something - for everyone, though not enough of the actual best of the National Lampoon. Essentially a packaging of four existing CDs - That's Not Funny, That's Sick, White Album, and Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll, and the End of the World, along with Greatest Hits of the National Lampoon - it has too many unfunny moments on discs one, two, and three, representing the downward spiral of the organization, and not enough highlights.

I love this album - the topical humor is centered around one of the happiest times of my life and the humor brings back a lot of good feelings between the many laughs. I originally got the "Greatest Hits of the National Lampoon" back in the 80's on Vinyl. I'd looked for a CD version of this excellent collection of National Lampoon performances. Many of the fantastic performers went on to Saturday Night Live and Christopher Guest went on to the epic Spinal Tap and many other movies.

National Lampoon was a ground-breaking American humor magazine. It started in 1970 as an offshoot of the Harvard Lampoon. The magazine declined during the late 1980s. It was kept barely alive for a number of years for brand name reasons, but it ceased publication altogether in 1998. Includes a bunch of other funny crap as all national lampoon magazines always DID. I Guess that by 1970 frank zappa was known pretty well since national lampoon DID this comic about him. However what just might be a little interesting is that in the comic he's drawn performing with the mothers of invention. No more FZ content, only the Grand Wazoo ad. Source: Steve Dirkx.
