Dead Congregation is a Greek death metal band from Athens formed in 2004. The band have released two full-length albums, two EPs, and a split release with Hatespawn. They released their latest full-length album Promulgation of the Fall on May 5, 2014 through their own label, Martyrdoom Productions, and on November 7, 2016, they released their EP 'Sombre Doom'. The band's name is derived from the title of a song written in their previous band Nuclear Winter.

Dead Congregation left their fans to languish in the wilderness of mediocre death metal for a long time, but now they're back with Promulgation of the Fall. On Graves of the Archangels, Greece's Dead Congregation did everything right. The band wasn't making the most original music – their debut was Immolation and Incantation worshiping death metal with some old school Swedeath influence – but what they lacked in originality they more than made up for in execution and quality of product. Creating an album this complex while still managing to make it entertaining to listen to isn't something that can be done accidentally. Right from the start it's obvious that the members of the band knew exactly what they were doing and that they had a clear vision of how to accomplish their artistic goals.

Promulgation of the Fall sees Dead Congregation very nearly perfecting a style they have towered over since their debut record almost six years ago. While some of the charming theatrics of Graves of the Archangels have been replaced by a more straight forward, doom heavy assault, this trimming of the fat helps their sophomore record stand on its own ground. With tighter songwriting, better production, and a little extra helping of doom, Dead Congregation’s Promulgation of the Fall stands strong with their now classic Graves of the Archangels and delivers in just about every conceivable way.
