Jeangu Macrooy (pronounced as zjangú makrooi) was born and raised in the tropical warmth of Paramaribo, Suriname. r, and two years later he started writing and performing with his twin brother Xillan. In 2014 Jeangu decided to continue his musical career on the other side of the ocean, in the Netherlands. A musical collaboration with producer Perquisite took off and Jeangu was signed to his label Unexpected Records. In April 2016 Jeangu’s debutEP ‘Brave Enough’ was released. High On You' might be the best Dutch debut album of 2017. The release of the album was celebrated with two almost fully sold out club tours throughout the Netherlands. Moreover, Jeangu played an abundance of festivals with his band, including North Sea Jazz and Lowlands. In December, for the first time since his departure, Jeangu went back to Suriname.
