To promote the album, Gamma Ray were the "very special guest" on Helloween's Hellish Rock 2007/2008 World Tour, on some shows along with the band Axxis. For the final encores of the evening, Kai and members of Gamma Ray joined Helloween to play a couple of songs from when Kai was in the latter band. Kai would also regularly join Helloween co-founder Michael Weikath at center stage to the delight of fans of both bands. Kai Hansen revealed, in an interview with Metal Blast in April 2013 that their eleventh album, Empire of the Undead would have a "more thrashy" sound. In the same interview, Dirk Schlächter announced that the band would do a headlining tour following its release. Empire of the Undead was released in March 2014, despite Gamma Ray's studio being completely destroyed by a fire.

The new album follows the success of 'To The Metal' which brought GAMMA RAY back in the highest positions of the sales charts worldwide. Empire Of The Undead' is set to release March 28th 2014

Gamma Ray, one of the premiere German Power Metal bands of all time, led by mastermind guitarist/vocalist Kai Hansen, is at it again with their 11th studio release entitled Empire Of The Undead. While their main competitor in Germany’s Power Metal scene (Helloween) continues to stay pretty true to form with their musical approach, Gamma Ray has opted to be a bit more Melodic and Traditional in their Metal approach vs. straight Power Metal.
