Now I went to a party once a few miles out of town And when the time for home came well the rain came pouring down The hostess said "sleep on the couch", well I felt such a clown She said "If you're not warm enough, I'll bring you a bottle down Hee, I went all hot and cold, I did, I went all hot and cold. But just like some big schoolboy I did just as I was told I drank that bottle of whisky that she said was ten years old Then I saw blue pigs and pink earwigs And I went all hot and cold, I did, I went all hot and cold. Cause lying next to me there was a figure grey and cold I shouted for the lady and she came up brave and bold She said that's all right, he only died last night Hee, I went all hot and cold, I did, I went all hot and cold.
british, comedy, music hall, Squeaky-voiced purveyor of ukelele-fuelled 1940s smut, ukulele. You can change the key with the transposer, there are many different versions of this song. My father was a huge George Formby fan, he had every conceivable LP (back in the days of vinyl), and all the George Formby films on VHS – I am talking about the 70’s and 80’s! I loved watching the films with him and singing along with my dad in the car to the cassette tapes of George. He would be so thrilled that, at the age of 47, I have started playing the Uke. Thanks to all of those who have contributed to this excellent site and helped me learn to play. March 16, 2017 at 18:48 · Reply.

George Formby, OBE (26 May 1904 – 6 March 1961), was a British actor, singer-songwriter and comedian. He sang light, comical songs, usually playing the ukulele or banjolele. He was a major star of stage and screen in the 1930s and ’40s, when Formby became the UK’s highest-paid entertainer. His songs such as When I’m Cleaning Windows were particularly popular during the Second World War (1939–45). When he and his wife travelled throughout the war, creating improvised lyrics to songs to fit the situation, they delighted their audiences.
