A Year With No Summer (2016) is the second studio album by Barcelona-based band Obsidian Kingdom. It is a concept album featuring seven songs that draw from a diverse range of styles including alternative rock, drone, black metal, progressive rock, post-metal and electronica. The album was recorded, mixed, mastered and produced in September 2015 by Jaime Gómez Arellano at Orgone Studios in London, and co-produced by Jorge Mur and the band itself.

The title track, A Year with No Summer, shows the band has matured since debut album Mantiis, which came out 4 years prior. Obsidian Kingdom proves once again they are a tight group of musicians playing some beautifully crafted progressive music. The bass playing of Om Rex Orale has a heavy groove to it that carries the seven songs along nicely. Obsidian Kingdom’s breakthrough was delicately executed. Emerging from Barcelona, Spain-a country where few metal bands originate- it seemed natural that the native genre of music they play would be hard to classify by the rest of the world.
