Quincy Jones' 75th Birthday Celebration: Live at Montreux 2008. Eagle Vision 000074411. Quincy Jones' 75th Birthday Celebration: Live at Montreux 2008.

The one drawback of Quincy Jones’ 75th Birthday Celebration: Live at Montreux 2008 is the same problem that haunts many concert DVDs: why would you want to sit at home watching something that’s meant to be seen live? Many of these artists are still touring (although you’re not going see as many of them gathered in one place as you do here), and two hours plus is a long time to spend sitting on the couch watching something that other people were actually attending.

In 2008 the Montreux Festival honoured Quincy Jones on his 75th birthday with an all-star concert. Among those paying tribute were Herbie Hancock, Mick Hucknall, Al Jarreau, Paolo Nutini, and James Morrison. Hits include Let The Good Times Roll, Honeysuckle Rose and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. When an artist of the stature of Quincy Jones celebrates his 75th birthday you can be sure it's going to be quite a party. The main concert lasted over two and a half hours and the musicians then spilled out into the bars and cafes of Montreux with the music still going strong as the sun was coming up the next morning! Backing on all tracks provided by the Montreux In The Big Band conducted by Pepe Lienhard.
