The second release from this power-metal quartet offers more of Grip In. s relentless riffing plus a little bit extra. Bandleader and metal legend Dave Lombardo delivers all the massive drumming fans should expect while his fellow musicians Gus Chambers (vocals,) Waldemar Sorychta (guitars, keyboards,) and bassist Jason Viebrooks push their progressive metal to new textural extremes.

Nemesis sees Grip Inc. cranking up the thrash element a bit on this release in comparison to their 1995 debut Power of Inner Strength. While stylistically, Nemesis doesn't make much of a departure overall from their sound they had already established on the debut. There is some small advancement of their sound on this release, but nothing to the level that their next 2 releases Solidify & Incorporated would display. But like I had already mentioned, there is much more of a true thrash element permeating throughout this release in comparison to Power of Inner Strength. There might not be quite as much variety on this 2nd effort as on their debut, but overall, this album makes a great companion piece to their debut release. Fans of smart and well written/performed metal would do wise to pick up their entire catalog. This is some of the most overlooked metal that has been released up to this point.
