Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was an American swing dance band formed by Glenn Miller in 1938. Arranged around a clarinet and tenor saxophone playing melody, and three other saxophones playing harmony, the band became the most popular and commercially successful dance orchestra of the Swing era and one of the greatest singles charting acts of the 20th century.

In 1944, Miller mysteriously disappeared over the English Channel. He was recognized as war hero and three posthumous number-one albums as well as records of the band certified Gold (selling over 500,000 copies) more than 40 years after his death proved his music enduring. Use The Glenn Miller Orchestra for recordings WITHOUT Glenn Miller (who died in 1944).

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a band formed after the loss of Glenn Miller, named in memory of him and the original Glenn Miller Orchestra. After the disappearance of Glenn Miller in 1944, the band was reconstituted under the direction of Tex Beneke, its lead tenor saxophonist, singer, and one of Miller's longtime close friends

In April 1935, Glenn Miller recorded, for the first time, under his own name. Using six horns, a rhythm section and a string quartet, he recorded Moonlight on the Ganges and A Blues Serenade for Columbia. But selling only a few hundred records, he continued his position with the Noble Orchestra. In 1937, Glenn Miller stepped out to form his own band.
