Team Sleep is the eponymous debut studio album by American alternative rock band Team Sleep, largely produced by Greg Wells (Rufus Wainwright, Creeper Lagoon, and Mika). It was released in Europe on May 9, 2005 and a day later in the United States through Maverick Records. The debut album by Team Sleep was supposed to be released in 2003 but was scrapped due to the premature leakage of demos from the album onto the internet.

The band split for a brief period of time before joining together and making material for a new album. Issues with Maverick Records as well as commitments with other projects (most specifically singer Chino Moreno and his band Deftones) delayed the release of the album numerous times.

Team Sleep originated as Chino Moreno's idea to create a softer, moody side project from his mainstay, Deftones. Originally, the song "Teenager" (released in 2000 on the Deftones record "White Pony") was meant to be a Team Sleep song. DJ Crook, a long-time friend and roommate of Frank Delgado, had done the beats on Teenager. Chino Moreno decided to start Team Sleep with DJ Crook, and Chino's childhood friend, Todd Wilkinson.

Team Sleep is its own thing, a drifting fog of electronic and analog texture with a pool of interesting collaborators and the distinct feel of alternative rock. Team Sleep could probably do an awesome cover version of Catherine Wheel's "Black Metallic

That love is not so hidden anymore considering Team Sleep, a trip-hop/shoegaze side project of his, have already completed their second album to be released early 2008. The most immediate questions to Team Sleep's style and aesthetic is with regard to how reliant they are of Deftones' sound and success. I'd have to say that they somewhat stick to that model

Team Sleep features Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno and his longtime friend, guitarist Tom Wilkinson. Along with DJ Crook, the product brings the moodiness of Deftones' later work (their song "Teenager" has been a widely-used but apt comparison point) with little of its hardness, and builds it all from drum loops
