This album actually reminds me of the melodic black metal band Vinterland (my namesake!), in that it has an intense yet laid back sound, very chill for extreme metal, if you know what I mean. The title track is a highlight, with use of gorgeous piano and keys throughout, but then the firepower ensues with the verse, bridge, and memorable chorus. This album is a clinic on how to write great songs in the genre. This has some of the greatest leads ever in metal in my opinion, and is just an absolutely killer album. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be number one in my top 10, but it comes just shy. I mean from the opener Moonshield with it’s fantastic acoustics by Stromblad, to the relentless closer Dead God in Me, this album never lets up or disappoints. Mercy- Swedish Metal (FULL ALBUM) 1982.
