Aerosmith signed with Columbia early in the '90s, before their contract with Geffen expired, and, as part of the deal, they owed a live album to Geffen - hence the appearance of A Little South of Sanity, a double-disc set culled from tapes from the Get a Grip and Nine Lives tours.

Aerosmith is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Aerosmith, released on January 5, 1973 by Columbia Records. The song "Walkin' the Dog" is a cover of a song originally performed by Rufus Thomas. The single "Dream On" became an American top ten hit when re-released in December 1975 ; it had first been released as a single in June 1973. The album peaked at number 21 on the US Billboard 200 Chart in 1976.

A Little South of Sanity, the 4th live album by the band, would do just that while also bringing back versions of classic Aerosmith songs. All together, ALSOS would prove to be their greatest live album to date with outstanding performances by the band and a great track list that mixes classics with new fairly and with songs that just rock. 1) Eat the Rich - The album starts with the popular opener from Get a Grip and it rocks hard.

Just as Live! Bootleg defined Aerosmith in the ‘70s, and Classics Live! defined the band in the ‘80s, A Little South of Sanity defines them for the ‘90s, their most commercially successful period and it finds the veteran band in fighting form. Recorded during tours for Get a Grip (1993/1994) and Nine Lives (1997/1998), these tracks sound exactly the way a live album should: a little louder, a little edgier, but with all the uproarious attitude and whip-smart precision of the studio recordings
