The Glaser Brothers were touring with Johnny Cash at the time as an opening act for Johnny’s show as well as background singers for Johnny’s headline slot. Tompall and Chuck stated many times Johnny Cash wanted to help the Brothers in the music business become a headline act. He did help them with connections and recording their songs early on in their business relationship, but ultimately the brothers moved in another direction.
