Drexciya's James Stinson and Gerald Donald remained hidden behind their alias for much of the group's existence, communicating a complex personal mythology of a "Drexciyan" race of underwater dwellers descended from pregnant slave women thrown overboard during trans-Atlantic deportation.

Drexciya was an American electronic music duo from Detroit, Michigan, consisting of James Stinson (1969 - 2002) and Gerald Donald. Tracks were mostly centered around the Roland TR-808 drum machine.

Drexciya were a mysterious electro unit from Detroit, Michigan. The late James Stinson was the only officially identified member of Drexciya, but it was considered an open secret that he had a partner, Gerald Donald.

Clone is reissuing the final Drexciya album, Grava 4. Grava 4 came out in 2002 amidst the group's series of Storm albums, which were released under a variety of aliases like Abstract Thought, Transllusion and The Other People Place. That said, it is generally considered to be post-Storm. The LP represents a moment in their career-spanning fictional narrative wherein scientists discover "utopia," or the "Drexciyan home planet," according to notes that came with the record. The label has previously put out records from Der Zyklus and Zerkalo, as well as unreleased Drexciya material and some of the duo's earliest, pre-Drexciya music. Listen to "Gravity Waves.

Drexciya - Neptune's Lair. Masters of Electro - The late James Stinson and Gerald Donald.

The album arrived at the end of the pair's Storm series with Tresor having released Harnessed The Storm earlier in 2002, and Stinson having released his classic solo LP, Lifestyles Of The Laptop Café, as The Other People Place on Warp the year before. That album will also receive a reissue on February 10. Grava 4 is set for reissue in March 6. The album tells the story of the discovery of Drexciya's home planet, following similar sci-fi themes to much other Drexciya material of the time.
