Wally Badarou in 2016. Background information. Waliou Jacques Daniel Isheola "Wally" Badarou (born 22 March 1955) is a French musician. Born in France with ancestry from Benin, West Africa, Badarou is known for his close association with the English group Level 42, and for his prolific work as a session musician with a wide variety of performers from around the world. The former included "Chief Inspector", "Mambo" (sampled for Massive Attack's "Daydreaming" (Blue Lines album)), and "Hi-Life"
Echoes (1983) is his second solo album, which included "Chief Inspector", "Hi-Life" and "Mambo", which was sampled for Massive Attack's "Daydreaming" of the Blue Lines album. 180 gram audiophile vinyl. 1. Keys 2. Hi-Life 3. Mambo 4. Voices 5. Canyons. Side B. Endless Race 2. Chief Inspector 3. Waltz 4. Jungle 5. Rain. He has co-written and performed on a number of the band's tracks since their recording début in 1980, later co-producing them. Though not an official member, he has long been considered an informal "fifth member".

Before Chief Inspector. Out of print for over 25 years, Wally Badarou’s debut solo album Back To Scales To-Night has finally been reissued on vinyl. Working with Grace Jones, Black Uhuru, Tom Tom Club, Gwen Guthrie, Robert Palmer, Herbie Hancock, Manu Dibango and Marianne Faithfull, a member of British jazz funk band Level 42, and author of some hugely influential solo records, Badarou is one of the most significant, if not recognised, musicians of the ’80s.
