I'm done with, you know, that Madlib album, so I just been sitting on that," he revealed, saying he is in no rush to put it out. "I mean I got money. I don't gotta put it out yet. The album is as raw as the hand drawn cover it comes in; battle rhymes over crunchy SP1200 beats. Whilst not comparable to Madlib’s later, more sophisticated work, it definitely has its charms and moments, not least the joyfully rhetorical ‘Questions’, the brilliant ‘New Year’s Resolution’, the obligatory posse cut ‘Episodes’ and the mission statement ‘Cratediggin’. A rap album so unique and entertaining it’s impossible to tire of it, and to crown it all, some of the finest Madlib beats in history, his most visionary and groundbreaking work, recorded on mushrooms and mixed entirely on a Tascam cassette tape multi-track.
One of the most exciting rap releases of this decade with one of the most legendary producers ever madlib and Indiana's gangsta rapper freddie gibbs. Everything about this album is fucking tight everything from freddie's very sharp bars and his fucking tight flow. But the most shining thing about this album is madlibs which I feel is better than the production on madvillany imo.
