Elton John’s first album entitled Empty Sky was released in 1969. It was the same year Led Zeppelin released their debut album Led Zeppelin. In 1969, Jim Hendrix blew away crowds at Woodstock, and the Vietnam War continued to divide a nation. Since Elton John’s debut album in that historic year, the singer-songwriter has continued to release albums on an almost yearly basis with few exceptions. During his 1970’s period, the artist released two albums a year due to his MCA Records contract. In between albums, Elton released hit singles in similar Beatles fashion.

All the great songs and lyrics from the "Elton John Collection" album ont he Web's largest and most authoritative lyrics resource. Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947) is an English rock singer-songwriter, composer, pianist and occasional actor. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriter partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date.

Six decades on and Elton shows no signs of slowing down. He received the first ever Brits Icon Award for his lasting impact on UK culture in 2013, and released his 33rd studio album in 2016. A collaboration with Leon Russell, one of Elton’s earliest influences, The Union captures the essence of good time piano rock and roll. The pair trade verses and solos live in the studio while the supporting band adds depth, evoking the 1970s sound for which Elton is known.

Picking Elton John's single greatest album is no easy task. The man worked like a maniac in the early 1970s, releasing 10 albums between 1970 and 1976. Those were his golden years, but he kept going and managed more than a few true creative comebacks in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Elton John was dangerously close to being an oldies act by 1983. His five albums since 1976's Blue Moves didn't live up to critical or commercial expectations, and his decision to dissolve his original band and work with songwriters other than Bernie Taupin didn't sit well with fans. He corrected all these errors on Too Low For Zero. Bernie wrote every song, and the entire old band came back.
