The Blue Hour is the eighth studio album by English alternative rock band Suede. The album was released on 21 September 2018. It was the first Suede album since A New Morning not to be produced by longtime producer Ed Buller, and the first to be produced by Alan Moulder. The concept for The Blue Hour began in May 2016, when lead singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboardist Neil Codling wrote the song "Mistress"; a song about a boy's realisation of his father's affair.

Suede on The Blue Hour come through with their most dramatic, cinematic and darkest album in years. If you’re a fan of Suede and know their material, then you should know what to expect from them. But they just sound so full of energy here, easily more so than their last few albums, which is fantastic. The drama is here, and tons of gigantic strings and emotional performances. Now, truth be told some of these tracks don’t come as easy to Suede as they once did, and.
Suede are releasing their eighth studio album The Blue Hour on September 21 via Warner. The long player was produced by Nine Inch Nails/ Gary Numan associate Alan Moulder and is their first new release since the stunning Night Thoughts in 2016. Talking about the new LP the band said: "The Blue Hour is the time of day when the light is fading and night is closing in. The songs hint at a narrative but never quite reveal it and never quite explain. But as with any Suede album, it’s always about the songwriting. The band, the passion and the noise: The Blue Hour.
You sense that ‘The Blue Hour’ is Suede giving themselves the grandest of curtain calls on their current era. At a sprawling 14 tracks, it may contain a few flourishes too many – and many may find themselves weighed down by the opulence. However, it’s still littered with the usual calling cards to fall in love with. The aching ‘Life Is Golden’ and almighty ‘Flytipping’ shimmer among their finest and more bittersweet ballads, while ‘Wastelands’ and ‘Cold Hands’ both swagger with Suede’s usual elegiac arena pop prowess.
Having established that their 21st century reunion was not a passing thing, Suede decided to stretch themselves with The Blue Hour, the third record they've made since reuniting in 2013. Unlike that year's Bloodsports or its 2016 sequel Night Thoughts, The Blue Hour isn't produced by Ed Buller, who helmed their three big records of the 1990s (Suede, Dog Man Star, Coming Up), it's the work of Alan Moulder, the veteran producer whose fingerprints were all over alternative rock of the '90s that had little to. do with Brit-pop.
The Blue Hour isn’t exactly brutal in the style of that song; yet it’s definitely tenebrous in its own theatrical way. As One opens with the chanting of a choir, giving the impression that everything to follow will be sacred. Wastelands closes with a shakily whispered passage from The Wind and the Willows: The sky was steely. Another intriguing Suede trend that resurfaces on this album is the direct-address positivity song. Despite all its dabbling in the shadows, Suede has probably recorded some of the most wholesome, heartwarming songs of any Britpop band (see Everything Will Flow and Instant Sunshine ). This album has two of them: Don’t Be Afraid If Nobody Loves You and Life Is Golden. The former is one of the album’s most powerful tracks; backed by electric guitars, the titular phrase seems like a triumph.
Suede have announced a new album, The Blue Hour. It’s out September 21. The LP was produced by Alan Moulder and is the third and final part of a trilogy including their previous albums, Bloodsports and Night Thoughts. Watch a trailer for The Blue Hour below. In an interview with NME, Suede’s Brett Anderson said, This is a very complicated record, much more so than the last too-and more diverse. It’s quite a journey. There are a lot of elements that we haven’t used before, like a choir and more spoken word and dialogue.
