Rise is a 1979 album by Herb Alpert. The Rise album was conceived in 1979 after the worldwide success of both the 7" & 12" versions of the single "Rise", a song written by Andy Armer and Randy "Badazz" Alpert which became a million selling hit song on sales charts, radio, and in dance clubs throughout America, Europe, and Japan. Rise was constructed with Side One consisting of original songs composed by Herb, Andy and Randy. Side Two consisted of cover versions of songs Herb had admired.

If the 12" single of Herb Alpert's "Rise" hadn't taken over the charts the way it did back in 1979, one wonders if anyone would have gotten around to checking out the Tijuana Brass, or if Alpert would have gone down in the books as the guy who had a number one with a Burt Bacharach tune ("This. Guy's in Love with You"). Instead, the cut energized the entire dance club generation, with DJs looking for new grooves, and it even ended up being used by Sean "Puffy" Combs on the Notorious .

If you like Herb Alpert playing a robust yet very smooth natural latin musical direction this is a great album that has merit along with another CD titled "Fandango.
