Live 1966: The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert is a two-disc live album by Bob Dylan, released in 1998. It was recorded at the Manchester Free Trade Hall during Dylan's world tour in 1966, hence the quotation marks around the false attribution to the Royal Albert Hall. Extensively bootlegged for decades, it is an important document in the development of popular music during the 1960s.

A 23-year-old Bob Dylan made his first appearances at the Royal Albert Hall on 9 & 10 May 1965, soon after the release of his 5th studio album Bringing It All Back Home. The concerts were the final dates of Dylan’s England Tour 1965 – noted as being his last ever solo acoustic tour. A selection of songs from these performances can be seen in . But no more: Live 1966: The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert has surfaced on two discs mixed and mastered from three-track source tapes that put the myriad pirated recordings to shame. More important, Live 1966 documents a momentous artistic showdown between a willful, inflamed, and utterly fearless performer and his headstrong core following. I am pretty much done with my Dylan albums. The only ones I don't have is Self Portrait, (which I won't get because Bob did this album just to get rid of his fans & he hardly wrote any songs in it) and Knocked Out Loaded and Under the Red Sky (maybe a little later I'll get these last two) and maybe a couple of live ones I still. Now I want to look up and listen and honor Bruce Hornsby a little.

Somewhere in the transformative period between Bob Dylan’s decision to augment his spare acoustic guitar and harmonica folk persona with a rocking band wielding electric guitars, and his frightening motorcycle crash, the man and his band toured Europe and Australia. The audiences attending these shows, legendary in their mixed reaction to Dylan’s flaunting of feedback in the face of their delicate folk sensibilities, were known to provoke some anger from Dylan, as he encouraged his backing band (The Hawks, who later became The Band) to play it fucking loud  . Ragged, uneven (particularly on the audio, but also in the performances), but never dull, The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert fits nicely in the cannon of live Dylan recordings.

One of the most famous concerts in rock history saw Bob Dylan battle hecklers at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England on May 17, 1966. After a controversial three-song performance with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Al at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, Dylan worked out a compromise to placate his longtime fans. The first set would be performed acoustic and solo, while his backup band would come out for the second electric half. While there are conflicting reports about the reason for, and the amount of booing at Newport, at his next performance at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, .
