Cold Lake is the third studio album by Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost, released on 1 September 1988 by Noise Records. It features a new lineup, reformed by bandleader Tom Warrior with newly joined musicians Oliver Amberg, Curt Victor Bryant and Stephen Priestly. Despite it being marketed to exploit the mass appeal of glam metal, the album has more of a traditional heavy metal sound.

So will Cold In Berlin‘s debut album Give Me Walls be strong enough to overcome such harsh preconceptions? . This is explored further by ‘If You Take Me Apart’ and ‘Total Fear’, the latter of which is slightly more restrained than the rest of the album, but no less tense or twisted, as Maya is quick to remind us with the stark imagery of Let’s crack your ribcage // I will twist and slip inside. But, very occasionally, Cold In Berlin allow the listener a fleeting glimpse of something that comes fairly close to empathy, such as during the middle section of ‘White Horse’, as Maya sighs Oh you’re alone // Oh, so alone.

The Wall – Live in Berlin was a live concert performance by Roger Waters and numerous guest artists, of the Pink Floyd studio album The Wall, itself largely written by Waters during his time with the band. The show was held in Berlin on 21 July 1990, to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall eight months earlier. A live album of the concert was released 21 August 1990. A video of the concert was also commercially released.
During album standout The Bell, the guitar simulates a church bell ringing, while Maya proclaims One more bel. One more bell and I’m yours/and from my belly/the beast crawls. in the most comfortable way, blending Siouxsie Sioux with Jarboe in what is easily a strong contender for my Song of the Year. Frank’s drums take a little bit of a hit (especially in the cymbals), but otherwise it’s a solid production, despite it’s low dynamic score. Sadly, sixth track Mysterious Spells, a piece that’s mostly spoken word, almost pulled me out of the album entirely. It takes something special to make spoken word work on a record, but this song pulls the record down so much that the subsequent four tracks suffer a bit, even though they’re good songs themselves.
