Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), also known simply as Scary Monsters, is the 14th studio album by David Bowie, released on 12 September 1980 by RCA Records. It was Bowie's final studio album on the label and his first following the Berlin Trilogy of Low, "Heroes" and Lodger (1977–1979). Though considered very significant in artistic terms, the trilogy had proven less successful commercially.

Accept that you have no control, that the course that life takes has little, if anything, to do with you, and gain some hard comfort. Up the hill backwards-it’ll be alright seems like a booster-keep on keeping on-but it’s a dark form of encouragement. Bowie: Well, admitting it?
Up the Hill Backwards. Starting with a brisk acoustic/electric guitar part, "Up the Hill Backwards" is one of David Bowie's many highlights from the wonderful Scary Monsters album, as charged with all the energy and forward-looking brightness as nearly everything else on that album. It's noteworthy for pulling off a series of intricate tempo changes as it goes - if not quite prog-rock per se, it's has the same sense of fragmentary compositions from the Berlin albums, smoothly assembled to result in a striking new song

Bowie David Scary Monsters Up The Hill Backwards The vacuum created by the arrival of freedom And the possibilities it seems to offer It's got nothing to do with you, if one can grasp it It's got nothing to do with you, if one can grasp it. A series of shocks - sneakers fall apart Earth keeps on rolling - witnesses falling It's got nothing to do with you, if one can grasp it It's got nothing to do with you, if one can grasp it. Yeah, yeah, yeah - up the hill backwards It'll be alright ooo-ooo
