The Original Recordings (Singles and Unreleased 1995-1997) is a compilation album put together by founding members of The Detroit Cobras, and their fifth release. The album includes the first three 45s released by the original band as well as outtakes from their first LP and other unreleased tracks.

The 1987 original CD (as I recall) had a basic inlay - the 2004 12-page upgrade features great liner notes for noted Soul expert TONY ROUNCE - a man whose name has turned up on countless Ace and Edsel reissues. This time the track-by-track text is peppered with those great US Brunswick singles, UK demos and Trade Adverts. PPS: there appears to be some other CD with the same title where people are claiming re-recordings and soundbites - Ace never use any of this. This album is only but a sparkle of the real brilliance of what the Chi-Lites have to offer.

CHI was founded in 1984 by Hanyo van Oosterom (aka The Flying Dutchman). Kuhl II was recorded live at the Paradiso in Amsterdam.
