Betty Davis is the eponymous debut studio album by American funk singer Betty Davis, released through Just Sunshine Records (an upstart label) in 1973. The album was produced by Greg Errico and features contributions from a number of noted musicians such as Neal Schon, Merl Saunders, Sylvester, Larry Graham, Pete Sears, and The Pointer Sisters. In 2007, the album was re-issued on CD and vinyl by the Light in the Attic label.

In all honesty I can imagine people being put off by the heavily sexual content of the lyrics and by the unusual singing style Betty Davis adopts so maybe this album isn't for everyone. However I love it. I love the unusual turns of phrase that pepper the songs. I love the way she seems to chew all of the words and savour them before spitting them out for us. I love the deep funk of the backing.
