Hipnosis is a studio album by saxophonist Jackie McLean, featuring selections recorded for Blue Note Records in the 1960s, but not released until 1978. The album was released in the US as a two-fer (BN-LA 483-H2), which included five tracks from a 1967 session, plus six tracks recorded in 1962 later appeared on the CD reissue of Vertigo (see In Japan, it was released the same year as a standard LP (ST-83022) with a different cover, featuring only the 1967 tracks.

Hipnosis: Carrousel by Chris M. Slawecki, published on September 19, 2005. This Munich quintet titled its debut simply Jazz. The album was so well received in Germany that it was subsequently released for Jazz-heads in the UK and Japan, too. Completely composed, performed, and produced by the band, this second full-length release showcases Hipnosis' excellent lly on the part of Wanja Slavin (alto sax, alto clarinet) and trombonist Gerhard Gschlössl up front-in a program challenging enough to feel like a classic post bop mainstream quintet date, perhaps a little lost in time but not quite anachronistic.

After releasing two albums to no success on Mercury, Shootyz Groove moved to Roadrunner for Hipnosis. Ironically, the group turned in their best, most focused effort to date on the indie label. Tempering the heavy metal influences that underpinned their previous two albums with punk, ska, rap and funk, Shootyz Groove sound more powerful and accomplished than before.
