In the mid-1990s, he released an album entitled The Living Room Concert, which featured solo acoustic versions of his earlier material. He also provided archival material for the first Genesis box set, Genesis Archive 1967–75, released in 1998. Several of his albums feature artwork by Peter Cross. In 2008, the first Anthony Phillips biography, The Exile, by journalist Mario Giammetti, was published in Italy (Edizioni Segno). Harvest of the Heart, a 5-CD Box Set chronicling Phillips' solo career and collaborations, was released in 2014.

The two solo piano pieces at the end of the album, "Last Goodbyes" and "Collections," are more melodically interesting and richer sounding. Living Room Concert is clearly for Anthony Phillips fans only, but it's a nice document nonetheless.

Phillips left Genesis in 1970 after experiencing increasing stage fright. He began recording solo demos later that year including material that would eventually appear on his first solo album, "The Geese and the Ghost" (1977). He began studying music formally and took up the piano in 1971. Since 1977 Phillips has had a long and relatively successful solo career.

1984 is the sixth studio album by English musician and composer Anthony Phillips, released in June 1981 on RCA Records. The album marks a change in musical style for Phillips as it is compared to most of his previous albums which focused on more folk and acoustic music. After the music had been recorded, Phillips named the album after George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949).
Field Day is the first studio album from Anthony Phillips in 5 years in between various series releases of the Archive Collection, library & TV projects and compilations. It is also the sequel to Private Parts & Pieces V: Twelve, in which the acoustic guitar is the sole instrument on the album. The sleeve cover is designed by GR/DD, based in London. As Anthony Phillips explains in the sleeve notes, the album started off as a small project but not only grew in time, it also took a long time to record the album due to other project schedules.
