Experience an authentic Hawaiian feast during your visit and find more information about luaus on Oahu. To get a taste of Hawaiian hospitality, attending one of Oahu’s many entertaining luau is a must for your visit. Everything at the luau, from the food to the entertainment to the decorations, is designed to bring Pacific Island traditions to life and create a sense of togetherness. Sunset is the perfect time to celebrate on the shores of Oahu, where you’ll dine on kalua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (pounded Hawaiian taro). Some luau showcase entertainment from across Polynesia as well, including Tahitian dance and the thrilling Samoan fire-knife dance.

The Hawaiian Poi Dog (Hawaiian: ʻīlio or ʻīlio mākuʻe) is an extinct breed of pariah dog from Hawaiʻi which was used by Native Hawaiians as a spiritual protector of children and as a source of food. The original Hawaiian poi dog were descended from the Polynesian dogs brought to the Hawaiian Islands by the Polynesian people. Genetic studies on the New Zealand kuri dog indicate that the origin of this dog (and therefore probably the Hawaiian dog) is Indonesia.

we hired Aloha Islanders to perform at my mom's luau birthday party, and they were simply amazing. they were the highlight of the night! three hula dancers, a fire knife dancer and mary the MC worked. magically together to impress the guests. they were all beautiful, professional, and we would hire them again in a heartbeat.

The Royal Hawaiian stands as one of Oahu’s oldest and most famous hotels. But before the iconic building was constructed, the sacred lands were used for gatherings and celebrations known as Aha’aina. Today, in the spirit of Aha’aina (which translates to gathering for a meal), the Royal Hawaiian presents the Royal Hawaiian Luau, a modern take on the ancient Hawaiian gathering. In this luau, the Royal celebrates the land’s rich history through traditional songs, dances, and an incredible feast.
