A great album and the release that made Roberta Flack a major soul and R&B artist in the early '70s. She had a soft, compelling, alluring voice, and was able to convincingly switch gears and also convey anger, regret, hurt, or despair. Those who thought Flack was a one-hit wonder, or didn't think she could make the transition from doing mostly jazz to other styles, were convinced otherwise.

Roberta Flack is a 1978 album release by American vocalist Roberta Flack: her eighth album release - including her 1972 Donny Hathaway collaboration - Roberta Flack was the parent album of the Adult Contemporary hit "If Ever I See You Again" which also ranked in the Top 40. Since signing with Atlantic Records in 1968 Flack had overall abided by her original contract's terms of recording an album every two years: however Roberta Flack was recorded for release barely six months after Flack's.

Chapter Two ‎(LP, Album). Atlantic, Atlantic, Atlantic. 40 097, ATL 40 097, SD 1569. The problem with this album as with nearly all of Miss Flack's Lps, is that it is of two minds. The first side kicks off with a down-in-the-bar version of Gene McDaniels' "Reverend Lee", and follows with wonderful re-workings of Jim Webb, Bob Dylan and Everly Brothers classics

Roberta Cleopatra Flack (born February 10, 1937) is an American singer. She is known for her singles "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", "Killing Me Softly with His Song" and "Feel Like Makin' Love", and for "Where Is the Love" and "The Closer I Get to You", two of her many duets with Donny Hathaway.

Roberta Flack is one of those voices. Although a solid Album throughout, it took the world a while to warm up to Roberta's talents. Along with the album "First Take", "Chapter Two" was also alongside Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" & Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" albums in several houses in the early 70's. Chapter Two" was bought back in the day for the Key Tracks: "Reverend Lee", "Let It Be Me", and "Gone Away"

Roberta Flack's strong sensitive voice is surely one of God's great musical gifts. Reverend Lee" is a song to play over and over again. She just tears up "Let It Be Me", and anyone listening to "Gone Away" soon after the breakup of a loving relationship assumes the risk of suicide. Do What You Gotta Do" makes me want to pick up and run to wherever she might be when she pleads "come on back, and see me when you can". Too strong I was a child when this album came out and it has haunted me ever since. Turn the lights out, light a fire.
