Album by Cerys Matthews. Caught In The Middle. Miller Of Hooterville. Argwydd Dyma Fi. If You're Lookin' For Love.
The sound of Cockahoop no doubt owes much to Bob Dylan steel guitarist Bucky Baxter who took on production duties as well as a stellar (as far as the al. ountry scene goes anyway) cast of support players. Guitarist Richard Bennett (Travis Tritt, Emmylou Harris), drummer Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo/Wilco), and t Jim Hoke form a pretty flawless backing group.
Cerys Matthews: Cockahoop. Recorded in Nashville with musicians who have worked with Emmylou Harris and Wilco and a producer (Bobby Buck) who has played with Bob Dylan, Cockahoop is a long way from Britpop. The production is painstaking and the mood, perhaps surprisingly, is very up, although the opening cover of Hugh Cornwell/Roger Cook's booze anthem Chardonnay perhaps disturbingly so in its delirium.
