Fuchsia Days, as its title, punning on a classic Can album, hints, moves things on. The main comparison that springs to mind, however, is not Krautrock but Pink Floyd in their ruminative mid-Seventies pomp. Opening cut Dust, a multi-tracked, synth-tickled acapella, recalls their Wish You Were Here period, with a smidgeon of "Bohemian Rhapsody"-era Queen thrown in. Gone is the indie idiom: The Fiction Aisle have cut loose and floated off, as the deliciously gigantic, melancholic The Dream makes clear

The Fiction Aisle - UK CDpromo, Fuchsia Days. Fuchsia only produced this one album, exploring the netherlands between folk, psych, prog and light classical it doesn't get better than that as a slice of English whimsy without the smarminess of a Caravan or Stackridge.

About The Fiction Aisle. Led by prolific English songwriter Thomas White of acts such as the Electric Soft Parade and Brakesbrakesbrakes, the Fiction Aisle started as a small-release project where White explored the personal aftermath of coming out as gay. Introspective and downhearted by nature but, like the Electric Soft Parade, musically expansive and rich in complex chord progressions, Heart Map Rubric saw release in 2015, with Fuchsia Days following in 2016. Things were looking up for White by 2018's Jupiter, Florida, a sunnier collection issued by the Chord Orchard label.
