Eric Clapton is the debut solo studio album by British rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 under Atco and Polydor Records. After being successful with bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover shows Clapton sitting in a room which is going to be decorated and in which a ladder, a chair and some carpets are placed.

This version of the album is Clapton's mix (I have a copy), and does not contain alternate takes, just a different mix.

In the late Sixties, the Beatles and Eric Clapton kicked offa nearly five-decade-long tradition of recorded collaborations. Clapton and Starr found themselves in the same recording studio in early May 1970 while working on "I Ain't Superstitious," a track from The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions. The album features a who's who of British rockers, all of whom provide a smooth-and occasionally gritty-backdrop for American blues legend Howlin' Wolf's booming voice. Note Clapton's Strat tone, and remember this was recorded in the spring of 1970.

When Eric Clapton announced his Christmas album Happy Xmas, it appeared to be a typical move by a rock legend. But buried in between tracks like White Christmas and Silent Night is a surprising track: Jingle Bells (In Memory of Avicii). Eric Clapton's eponymous solo debut was recorded after he completed a tour with Delaney & Bonnie. Clapton used the core of the duo's backing band and co-wrote the majority of the songs with Delaney Bramlett - accordingly, Eric Clapton sounds more laid-back and straightforward than any of the guitarist's previous recordings. There are still elements of blues and rock & roll, but they're hidden beneath layers of gospel, R&B, country, and pop flourishes.
