The Strumbellas at Lollapalooza 2016. Background information. The band's third studio album, Hope, was released on April 22, 2016. The first single from that album, Spirits, topped the Billboard Alternative Songs chart the last two weeks of May 2016 and also enjoyed significant mainstream radio play in Canada and a number of European countries. On April 21, 2016, the band were featured performers on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, closing out the episode.

On their third album, The Strumbellas’ huge folk-rock sound is rendered even huger. On rustic-hued tunes such as We Don’t Know and Spirits, singer Simon Ward aches on lines like, I’ll be a dreamer 'til the day I die/But they say, ‘Oh, how the good die young,' before the six-piece band explodes in a gorgeous, chill-inducing chorus of piano, guitar, strings, claps, stomps, and fervent group singing. The Strumbellas recently signed to Glassnote Records on the heels of two successful albums in their native Canada. Today (Jan. 28), the band is premiering the music video for its new song Spirits, along with a Q&A with lead singer Simon Ward. Spirits comes from their forthcoming third LP Hope. The album was produced and engineered by Dave Schiffman and hits stores April 22. Spirits has already been getting good looks at alternative/rock radio stations like KROQ in Los Angeles and KITS in San Francisco. Below, check out the Spirits video.
