Farmakon is the third album of the Finnish funeral doom metal band Skepticism. The Raven and the Backward Funeral" and "Farmakon Process" are alternate versions of tracks that appeared on the band's previous EP, The Process of Farmakon. With Farmakon, Skepticism take on a slightly cleaner sound that features a somewhat clearer tone of their dreamy weirdness. For whatever a reason, this clearer tone made this album a little harder to digest, but it turned out just fine. After all, it's Skepticism we're talking about. It's 2001 at this point, and the band's been at this for quite some time.

Skepticism, even as one of the pioneers of the sound, have always remained the most innovative band in the ever-so-obscure genre. Even their 1995 debut, Stormcrowfleet, was incredibly individual, with its demonic organ sounds, the drummer's simple yet beyond-effective use of huge orchestral drums, the occasionally different guitar riff and the almost whispered nature of the vocals. Lead and Aether was again a trip through the dark recesses of Funeral Doom, with its clearer production and increased variety in songs making a huge leap from Stormcrowfleet
