Both Sides of the Sky is a compilation album by Jimi Hendrix, released by Legacy Recordings and Experience Hendrix on March 9, 2018. The album was the third release in a trilogy of posthumously released "archival recordings" compilation albums highlighted as intended for a follow-up to Electric Ladyland (1968), starting with Valleys of Neptune (2010), and preceded directly by People, Hell and Angels (2013). All songs recorded at Record Plant Studios, except for "Sweet Angel" recorded at Olympic Studios.

The album will be released on multiple formats including CD, digital, and as a numbered 180 gram audiophile vinyl 2LP. Both Sides of the Sky is another collection of high-quality studio recordings, dating from 1968-1970. It might surprise some that, 45-plus years after his death, there's still good material that hasn't been previously released, but Hendrix was recording nearly all the time at this point, whether they were demos done in his apartment, late-night jamming with friends, working on new material, or finishing/reworking older tracks.

Now yet another posthumous Jimi Hendrix album, titled "Both Sides of The Sky," hits the stores on Friday. It contains 13 songs, including 10 previously unreleased tracks and three previously anthologized outtakes  . The songs on "Both Sides of the Sky" come from the period after Hendrix's final album, "Electric Ladyland," which came out in 1968. This album is strictly for the Experience Hendrix completists, and not at all an accurate representation of a Jimi Hendrix Studio album at all. And for the completists, we have to deal with much of the material being chopped up. For the casual listener, listening to this album may come as a shock when half the songs have no vocals by Jimi, with 3 of the songs having other people singing on them all together. With most of the remaining material either being songs that have been released and re-released so many times, or chopped up, not much is left to wow the casual Jimi listener.
