Rhoda Scott (born July 3, 1938) is an American soul jazz organist. Scott was first attracted to the organ in her father’s church at age seven. It's really the most beautiful instrument in the world", she stated in a recent interview. The first thing I did was take my shoes off and work the pedals. From then on she always played her church organ in her bare feet, and to this date she has continued the practice. In 1967 Scott moved to France, where she has since spent most of her career.

Album's name: A L'Orgue Hammond (Take A Ladder). Rhoda Scott - A LOrgue Hammond (Take A Ladder). A L'Orgue Hammond (Take A Ladder) ‎(LP, Album).

Relatively few jazz musicians have adopted the Hammond B-3 as their instrument of choice, which makes a jazz organ performance a special treat for those who appreciate its powerful, dynamic and truly original sound. The number of jazz musicians having adopted the organ are rather few in number, compared to other instruments used in jazz:: Fats Waller, Jimmy Smith, Bill Doggett, "Wild" Bill Davis, Lou Bennet, Jimmy McGriff, and naturally Rhoda Scott.

I was first exposed to jazz watching Louis Armstrong on The Jackie Gleason Show. I met Gil Evans, a hero of mine. The best show I ever attended was the Max Roach Quintet 1982. The first jazz record I bought was Brown Roach Inc. My advice to new listeners: listen.
