Soul Finger is the debut album of the Bar-Kays, issued three months after the single of the same name. It was recorded by Tom Dowd and Chris Huston on Friday, June 23, 1967, at the Stax studio in Memphis.

Made of Phalon Jones, James Alexander, Jimmie King, Carl Cunningham, Ronnie Caldwell and Ben Cauley, The original Bar-Kays were the spiritual sons of the Mar-Keys. Doing their first record in March 67, most of them died tragically in the same airplane crash than Otis Redding in December of the very same year.
