Infernäl Mäjesty is a Canadian heavy metal band, formed in 1986 and now based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are best known for their debut album None Shall Defy, released in 1987. However, the 1998 re-issue by Displeased Records inspired them to get back together and they recorded a new album, followed by a European tour. They are still active. None Shall Defy' has not only become a legendary thrash metal album but is also regarded as one of the biggest contributions to the development of death metal, what with all its abrasiveness and sheer brutality; almost breaking down the walls of thrash metal completely. My only criticism with this album is that I wish it was longer. And yet, "None Shall Defy" finds itself largely associated with the strain of thrash metal that Slayer was known for by around this time, perhaps in part due to vocalist Chris Bailey not quite fitting the guttural persona that was part of the late 80s death metal sound, but more of a slightly nastier and grittier version of Chuck Billy and Tom.
