The box set also contains a bonus album, entitled ABBA Tracks, the A-side of which contains the five single A-sides not included on the original studio albums. The B-side of ABBA Tracks features a further five non-album songs, personally selected by ABBA's Benny Andersson. Going back to the analogue master tapes for each individual album, as originally prepared by ABBA.
The release of ABBA – The Album coincided with the cinematic release of ABBA – The Movie in 1977. At the height of the group’s popularity, their fifth album featured perennial ABBA classics "Take A Chance On Me," "The Name Of The Game" and "Thank You For The Music," which also featured the pioneering use of promotional videos years before the advent of MTV. The album topped the UK charts in 1978. The final studio album to be made by the group was The Visitors released on November 30th 1981. The major hit single on the album, "One of Us also depicted the end of a love story, this time the divorce of Benny and Frida. The Visitors album was one of the first records to be recorded and mixed digitally, and was the first in history to be manufactured on the new CD format in 1982.
The Album is the fifth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. The album was released in conjunction with ABBA: The Movie, with several of the songs featured in the film. Altogether the album contained nine songs.
ABBA - The Album had already come out (1977/78) when I came out (1980). So, you could sort of believe the nine songs on the original LP have been in my heart, mind and ears ever since I was a baby. And in all that time, my love for it has only grown. On this album ABBA definitely took strides forward artistically and their dance pop music advanced to more rock. There is hard rock, pop rock and dance rock here. The album opens with the very strong EAGLE and the second side of the album was a mini musical that they had started performing in concerts with highlights being THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC and the amazing I'M A MARIONETTE. Other standouts are the hits THE NAME OF THE GAME and TAKE A CHANCE ON ME. This album is a perfect illustration of why hit collections of ABBA's work deprive the listener of their true artistry.

ABBA: The Vinyl Collection is a limited edition box set containing ABBA's eight studio albums, originally released 1973–1981: Ring Ring, Waterloo, ABBA, Arrival, The Album, Voulez-Vous, Super Trouper and The Visitors. The box set also contains a bonus album, entitled ABBA Tracks, the A-side of which contains the five single A-sides not included on the original studio albums. The B-side of ABBA Tracks features a further five non-album songs, personally selected by ABBA's Benny Andersson.Going back to the analogue master tapes for each individual album, as originally prepared by ABBA and their associates, the albums in the ABBA: The Vinyl Collection box set have been remastered for vinyl especially for this release. The track listings of the albums mirror the original Swedish releases, as originally planned and conceived by ABBA. Similarly, the eight studio albums are presented in replica covers featuring the original artwork and inner sleeves – exactly as they looked when they first hit record shops back in the '70s and early '80s.
