Next up on Hyperdub is a full-length by Daniele Mana, AKA Mana. Arriving about six months after his first EP for Steve Goodman's label, Seven Steps Behind is "an electronic album that doesn't always sound electronic," Hyperdub says. A great deal of the record has been created to sound like prepared pianos, harpsichords, cellos and flutes. It's a departure from his "beatless, almost neo-classical electronics," the label continues.

Mana Mana is composer and producer Daniele Mana. He was active under the name Vaghe Stelle until 2010. Instinction 11. Soaking In Water 12. Seven Steps Behind After Daniele Mana's 2017’s debut EP for Hyperdub, ‘Creature’, which was a taut, evocative suite of beatless, almost neo-classical electronics, on this new album we find his music has caught an alien virus and started hallucinating. Seven Steps Behind’ sounds like musical world building rather than straightforward song writing.

Mana Mana was a Finnish band that has gained somewhat of a cult status. Their career was cut rather short; they managed to release a couple of singles and one album after which the founding member and the soul of Mana Mana, Jouni Mömmö, commited suicide by taking overdose of drugs. The music of Mana Mana is composed of a driving bass accompanied with three distorted guitars and the haunting vocals of Jouni Mömmö.
