Amazing! I highly recommend this. Alan Braxe and Fred Falke are a match made in heaven. I agree with BalooDP though, Chrystal City definitely should have been included, even just so it doesn't have to be all lonely in my iTunes library.

The only interessting thing of this record is to have a kind of discography from Alan Braxe, the tracks are very good alone, but hearing them one after the other don't give anything really strong. I think tracks like "Intro" or "Music Sounds Better With You" have taken a dimension so important separately that it make impossible putting them one after the other whithout doing something strange, a kind of clash.

"The Upper Cuts" will probably be one of my favourite House records of 2005. This compilation gathers most of the tracks Alan Braxe worked on in the past years, including Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You". Most of the time, you will find yourself projected back in the 1980's with interesting Electro samples. "Rubicon", for example, includes replayed elements of "Rhythm Man" performed by St. Regis, and originally featured in the movie "The Karate Kid". "Most Wanted" will please any New Wave nostalgic. "Arena" samples various sounds from live concerts (including cheerful crowds). "Intro" could still ravage any dancefloor today. The only song I don't like is "Link 'n' Rings" by Rec, an unconvincing vocal Hip Hop attempt. In all, "The Upper Cuts" is certainly a must have if you like French touch flavoured records.
