Deliver Us from Evil is Budgie's tenth album, released in October 1982 on RCA Records, and according to Burke Shelley its theme "attacks the power structures of East and West and the balance of terror"; it also "refers to all kinds of evil, not just The Bomb and war, but the main theme calls for world peace".

Fans of Budgie are no doubt thrilled they stayed very consistent in the 70's, but that consistency of playing - in my opinion - generic 70's metal, meant there was nothing making Budgie special, apart from their weird bird theme. This album is eclectic, dense, and very catchy. Despite that, it has some really good riffs! Not as heavy as before, but much more fun.

Budgie's last gasp, 1982's Deliver Us from Evil no doubt draws its title from born-again singer Burke Shelley's newfound Christian convictions; but no amount of faith can rescue this record from a complete musical shipwreck. Guitarist "Big" John Thomas displays the unenviable talent of regurgitating the most trite power chords and solos imaginable into songs like "Truth Drug" and the unbearable "Don't Cr.
